Shopping and Swimming

Today my morning started out with a shopping trip to the frip to by baby clothes for baby Dorian! Angie got lots of great pieces from newborn up to 24 months! Dorian is going to be one fashionable boy! I had a great time shopping with these two friends for one last time before Angie flies back!

Afterwards, I went swimming at the embassy for the first time since surgery! It was so good to be back in the pool!

Angie's Baby Shower

Yesterday, we celebrated my dear friend Angie and her sweet baby boy Dorian. It has been wonderful watching Angie this time as she is growing and glowing! Angie and her husband, Corbet fly back to the states on Friday to deliver Dorian in May. They will not be coming back to Tunisia because they are moving to Bangkok, Thailand in August for Angie to teach Elementary music there. She has been a very dear friend of mine and I am going to miss her tons! But I look forward to seeing lots of pictures of Dorian and meeting him one day!

The rest of Mom and Dad's Visit

After Mahdia, mom, dad, and I headed back to Tunis to spend the week here. They went to work with me most days which was wonderful! They were awesome with my students and my students loved having them there! We also had friends over for dinner some nights. We did very little sightseeing in Tunis because they saw a lot last time they were there and they were very ok with that! Here is our week in pictures!

Monday

We went to Sadika, which is a store with lots of glass items that they blow themselves. It is beautiful! Mom did lots of shopping there!

For dinner, we had sushi!

Tuesday

Mom and I ran some errands and then we had mac n cheese for dinner and tart homemade lemon pie from the lemons in my garden.

Wednesday

Sonya, a PreK TA, made and brought us homemade Tunisian couscous for lunch! It was oh so yummy!

Mom and I went to the hammam to be scrubbed down and massaged! It was just what we needed to destress and mom loved the Tunisian experience!

Thursday

Mom and dad went on a tour of the Medina and had an absolute blast!

After they got back, mom took some selfies with my Tunisian co-workers who she loves!

After work, mom took Zoe on a walk around the neighborhood. She met the "Resident Rat" which is basically this dog that is more like a rat that annoys Zoe. He spends his time sniffing Zoe's bottom as we walk.

For dinner, we have Karen and John and Cheryl and Lou over for dinner for burgers and lemon pie! It was such a fun night with my dear friends!

On Friday afternoon, mom and dad were suppose to fly home. But that didn't happen thanks to ticket number mix-ups and Lufthansa and United pointing figures at each other. However, they flew out today and will make it home late tomorrow night. I miss them both terribly and loved, loved, loved having them here to visit! I love you to the moon and back, mom and dad!

Trip to El Jem

Today we went to El Jem to see the coliseum. El Jem is about 45 minutes from our hotel so it was an easy drive. I have been to El Jem before with Aunt Jeanne and it was fun to go with my parents too. El Jem is a Roman coliseum but it has been preserved well and is quite beautiful! It was fun climbing up and around it and seeing all the ancient ruins. Oh if these walls could talk...

Then we went to the museum to see a collection of mosaics and ruins. It was magnificent to see how they have preserved all these mosaics.

It was a fun day spent with mom and dad!
