Tunis with Aunt Jeanne

After Mahdia, Aunt Jeanne and I headed back to Tunis for 2 days (had to work... ) before we headed on to Provence, France. During the day while I was at work, she went on two guided tours to Oudna and the Bardo museum/ the Medina in downtown Tunis. But when school was out we got to do some sightseeing too!

On Monday, we went to one of my favorite places: The American Cemetery! It is such a mesmerizing, sobering and fascinating place to go!

After touring the cemetery, Aunt Jeanne wanted to see the Punic Ports.

Then we headed to dinner at "The Cliff" which was overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Gorgeous views for sure!

The next day, I had an appointment with my seamstress to go over plans for my dress she is making for me. Katie and I are having dresses made together so we went there to get measurements and discuss which fabrics we needed to buy. Aunt Jeanne came along too. What a fun experience!

After our appointment, we dropped Zoe off at the Harrisons where she will be staying while we are in France. Then we grabbed pizza with them at their favorite place! It was fun sharing my friends in Tunis with my family!

Next stop... Provence, France!

Mahdia with Aunt Jeanne!

This weekend Aunt Jeanne flew in and we headed to one of my favorite places in Tunisia.... Mahdia! It is a gorgeous, yet simple beach on the Mediterranean Sea! There is also a sweet hotel there that I love! It is small but gorgeous and has everything we need right there! The food and the owner are the best parts!

Mr. Monseour (the owner) and I as soon as we got there

Our room in the corner- secluded and nice

The pool at night

Our table for the whole weekend for each meal- loved eating outside!

Dinner our first night... fish!

On Saturday, we headed into town to explore!

The old gate of the medina

and inside too!

I bought a Tunisian dress that is often sold in Mahdia!

Many of the shop owners were hecklers and I did not feel comfortable but this man was so nice and I am so glad we went in there to buy from him! He was too kind!

Mosque in the middle of town

Sweet carpet shop

The Grand Mosque (one of the oldest in Tunisia)

A fortress at the end of the peninsula

The cemetery and park- love this part at the end of the pennisula!

The old port- such sweet fishing boats

The fortress and headstones

A diver and his boat

There were a lot of horses who pulled carts in town

Back at our hotel! Love the blue door that leads to the sea

Spent some time at the sea...

and then headed to the pool

Lunch was more fish! (We are at the sea for sure)!

Back to the sea for swimming and relaxing!

Dinner on Saturday night was my favorite meal!

The breakfasts are simple but do not disappoint!
Figs and lots of dippings

Loved this wheat for the figs!

Oh these are the highlight of breakfast!

One last swim before heading back home to Tunis!

Life Lately in Tunis

So sorry I have been a bad blogger! :(  Blogger is not showing the pictures I downloaded so I have not been able to download them until now. A friend from work helped me out! :) So below in pictures is what is happening here in Tunis!

Lots of baby snuggling and loving!

Scottish tablet making with Cheryl!

Found baby tortoises in my basil plant

Saw a cow in the street on my way to school

Babysat these sweet ones for the first time- Iris and Tristan (they just moved to Tunis and their mom works at ACST)

More baby loving! Sweet Alba!

Zoe got a haircut!

I rode the school bus home with Karen when my car was getting inspected.

Karen finished her mosaic!

More snuggles with sweet baby Alba!

We got a Chili's in Tunis!

Catherine and I went and were super excited to be at an American restaurant in Tunis!

Look! The menu is in English!

Our table with our entrees!

On what felt like the hottest day, Zoe and I took a walk with the Harrison girls to Annie's to pick up some pesto and pasta! Zoe and Mila are buds!
