Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today we honored and celebrated mom! She celebrated her last birthday in the 50s and I hope she felt as special as she is! We love you very much, mom!

Paul and I started the day by surprising her at work by bringing her lunch and spending some time with her at work! We loved spending this time with her!

For dinner, we went out to Black Fin where they have mom's favorite fish and chips!

After dinner, we headed home to open presents

and eat cake!

Labor of Love

I am so sorry I have been the worse blogger ever! There really is no excuse but I am hoping to get caught up. I back post things (I can change the dates on my post to make the date the time the event actually happened and not when I posted it) so please scroll down to see the most recent posts. I won't do it all at once so when you check back, just scroll down. ;)

I went to Meredith College and loved my 4 years spent there! Meredith is a small all girls school and is at times seen as a large sorority! I always fight against and say it isn't true but we MAY have some similarities. Meredith is known for their traditions- there were many but that is what I love about Meredith! Anyway, with each tradition (and maybe even small events) we had a t-shirt. So I left Meredith with many, many t-shirts and I loved them all! I wore them throughout my 4 years and even afterwards. But soon, mom had a great idea to turn them into a quilt that I could cherish forever! So the shirts were set aside and nothing more was done with them.

But this past Labor Day without my knowledge, mom starting figuring it all out by figuring out measurements and placement. She cut the shirts down to the right size, backed them with mesh, and did a whole lot of math. She sewed the rows together and the t-shirt part was done! But that was the easy part! Then she had to find the back fabric, measure it out, glue down the filling to both sides, and then begin the long part of hand sewing the trim. She started it while I was in surgery and she worked on it throughout the 10 hours I was in surgery. She continued to sew while I was in the hospital and after I come home. The night finally came that she finished it and I got to sleep with it that night and have every night since. Mom put so much love into this quilt and I cherish it dearly! I love you mom!

Hiking up a Landfill

Mom had the day off of work and the weather was gorgeous so mom and I took Zoe on a walk/hike! There is a park in North Raleigh where the landfill was. The city of Raleigh turned the landfill into a large hill that people can now hike. The view at the top is beautiful as it as clear sweeping views and you can even see downtown Raleigh in the distance! It was a great hike on a gorgeous day spent with mom!

Happy 50th Birthday, Aunt Alice!

Happy 50th Birthday, Aunt Alice! You are an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, and great aunt and very loved! It was a pleasure reading all the sweet notes people wrote for you for your book! The things that were repeatedly mentioned were you love for God and devotion to His church, your love of children and your servant heart! The pictures people sent in were so neat, especially the ones from when you were younger! It was neat seeing you as a young girl! You are still so young at heart!
We love you Aunt Alice and Happy 50th Birthday!

Stitch Fix: Mother/Daughter Edition

Stitch Fix is an online personal shopping company. Basically how it works is you fill out an online information sheet of what you like, don't like, your style, etc. It is very detailed! With this information, a Stitch Fix stylist picks out 5 pieces of clothing and mails them to you. You try on all the clothes and return what you don't wait and keep what you do want. I did this when I was in the states this summer and it was a lot of fun! I asked if mom wanted to do it with me this time while I was home and she obliged! So today our package came in the mail and we tried on our clothes. It was a lot of fun! Below is what we kept!

Beautiful navy blue sweater

Fun Chevron top (and oh so soft)

Fun open cardigan with the perfect orange and blue color

Duck Donuts!

Before heading to the beach, we stopped off here for the first time to try it out because everyone is Cary has been talking about it! It is a donut shop called Duck Donuts where all of their donuts are made to order. Nothing is made ahead of time! They make the donuts, frost them and top them... right in front of your eyes! It was awesome and they tasted oh so yummy!!

Look at the special of the day on the day we were going to the beach!!!

Sweet baby Camden!

A dear friend of mine from my old school had a baby December 19th and I got to see him today! He is such a sweet big boy who makes the sweetest noises and faces! He is a great eater and great sleeper. He is also a wiggle worm but sweet snuggler! She is home with Camden now so her and I have enjoyed hanging out while we are both not working and spending lots of time at home. I have really enjoyed our times together because we can swap stories through our recovery, give each other advice, and keep each other company (which I really appreciate)! I am grateful we have this time together!
