Day 2: The Colosseum and Roman Forum

Our first full day in Rome started off with Kate and Dave running through the city while the boys and I sat out on the balconies (we had two and switched things up).  After a filling breakfast of eggs and bacon, we headed out to be tourists!

We hopped on the bus and off we went!

First stop... the Colosseum!

Big boy on an even bigger pillar!

Two views from the second floor of the Colosseum

Students outside the Colosseum making the Italian Flag

Josh and Dave outside the Colosseum

We stopped for our first pasta meal in Italy (yum!)

Caleb loved listening to these musicans

Best wine!

Homemade gnocchi pasta... yum!

Then we walked around the Roman Forum... very cool pillars and arches

No day is complete without Gelato!  Caleb got the blue gelato (please, please, please enlarge the picture to see what flavor he is eating).  We could not stop laughing like a bunch of school girls!

After Gelato, Caleb and Dave went back to the apartment to rest while Kate, Josh, and I went to Carrefour.  I got to do my big shopping trip! Here is Josh with all of my loot!

Our neighborhood on the walk back from Carrefour!  I loved where we stayed!  Great apartment and great location!

Caleb loved Thadeus and I always found him in different places.  After Caleb went to bed, I found this.  Caleb had tucked Thadeus into bed with Caleb's blanket.  What a sweet boy!

After the boys were asleep for the night, Kate and I walked around town for a bit!

These water fountains are all around Rome and the water was perfect for drinking!

We were staying seconds from the Vatican!  What a great place to walk at night!

St. Peter's Basilica

Love this statue from the bridge

St. Angelo's Castle

What a great day of sightseeing and a great night of chatting (and being real) with Kate!
