Mahdia with Aunt Jeanne!

This weekend Aunt Jeanne flew in and we headed to one of my favorite places in Tunisia.... Mahdia! It is a gorgeous, yet simple beach on the Mediterranean Sea! There is also a sweet hotel there that I love! It is small but gorgeous and has everything we need right there! The food and the owner are the best parts!

Mr. Monseour (the owner) and I as soon as we got there

Our room in the corner- secluded and nice

The pool at night

Our table for the whole weekend for each meal- loved eating outside!

Dinner our first night... fish!

On Saturday, we headed into town to explore!

The old gate of the medina

and inside too!

I bought a Tunisian dress that is often sold in Mahdia!

Many of the shop owners were hecklers and I did not feel comfortable but this man was so nice and I am so glad we went in there to buy from him! He was too kind!

Mosque in the middle of town

Sweet carpet shop

The Grand Mosque (one of the oldest in Tunisia)

A fortress at the end of the peninsula

The cemetery and park- love this part at the end of the pennisula!

The old port- such sweet fishing boats

The fortress and headstones

A diver and his boat

There were a lot of horses who pulled carts in town

Back at our hotel! Love the blue door that leads to the sea

Spent some time at the sea...

and then headed to the pool

Lunch was more fish! (We are at the sea for sure)!

Back to the sea for swimming and relaxing!

Dinner on Saturday night was my favorite meal!

The breakfasts are simple but do not disappoint!
Figs and lots of dippings

Loved this wheat for the figs!

Oh these are the highlight of breakfast!

One last swim before heading back home to Tunis!
