Hammamet Weekend Away!

Each year at this time of the year, I go to Hammamet (a resort town on the Mediterranean Sea) with a group of friends. Each year the group changes depending on who has left Tunisia and who has moved here. But each year I always go with Katie and we have such a great time together. She is my constant Hammamet friend! This is her last year here in Tunisia so we knew we had to go one last time. Our regular resort didn't open for the season due to lack of tourists so we had to find another. :( So Katie, Catherine and I packed up and headed to Hammamet (only an hour from Tunis) for the weekend! Oh it was so good to be there to get away from the stress of work and life in general!

Oh gracious me! Once we checked in, the fitness director showed us around the fitness center and spa. That whole thing was super hilarious!

Our garden view was more of a parking lot view so they game up full sea view! It was just beautiful!

Before dinner we had "aqua gym" (water aerobics in the pool), which was loads of fun but totally hilarious! I always enjoy the fun things we do together and the constant laughs!

Next morning, we headed down for breakfast. The birds were there too!

As we were heading down to the beach for the day, we saw a bunch of drums for a drum circle. Catherine had to give it a try and it was amazing! The drum circle that lasted for the next few hours... not so amazing.

It was a chilly one for sure!!! But once totally in (for at least 10 minutes, who am I kidding) it felt good. The weather was beautiful and the sea was very clear! Great day for a swim!

These crazy Algerian's offer to take our picture- we were grateful to have one of all three of us that is not a selfie. They also wanted one with us... that didn't happen!

So for lunch we ran to Carrefour (grocery store) to pick up some fruit, veggies, bread and cheese. 

 We came back and prepared a picnic on the balcony. We deseeded the melon in the hotel bathroom with a small knife! Oh the adventure!

And no picnic is complete without drinks!

After lunch we headed down to the pool but on our way down we say this door hanger and found it hilarious!

But it didn't last long and we were fast asleep before we knew it!

 

 I did not take any pictures on Sunday but it consisted of laying out at the beach and having a picnic lunch seaside. Thankful for a late checkout that we got to stay out for most of the day before heading home.

Katie and Catherine, I had an amazing weekend and it was just what I needed- forgetting about stress and spending time full of shenanigans with friends! You two made me laugh so much and I had a wonderful time! Katie, looking forward to meeting up soon whether in Oregon, NC or elsewhere around the world! Tunis and Hammamet won't be the same without you!
